Report Troubleshooting

Q. How do I adjust Landscape/Portrait (Orientation) for the Asset-Map?

Asset-Map provides a feature to designate the default orientation of the Asset-Map Report . Please refer to this resource for more information: Asset-Map Report Page Orientation.

Q. I want all PDF page the same orientation. How do I do that?

The platform determines the orientation of the pages of the PDF. A print orientation option is only available for the Asset-Map.

Q. The Reports tab is grayed out. I can't create a report. Why?

You are attempting to create a PDF from a Stencil type household. Please click here for more.

Q. How do I get rid of "Internal use only" ?

"Internal use only" appears on my PDF because you are attempting to generate a report from the Asset-Map page and not the Reports center. Please click here for more.

Q. The print size is too small. My clients can't read the report. How do I make the font bigger?

The text size is fixed and cannot be manipulated within the application. One way to create a paper copy with larger text is to use your printer's software setting to fill the entire page on larger print paper. This may also be an option in your PDF software. For example, switch the paper type to legal and use the "scaling" option where you can increase from 100% to enlarge the image of the client's Asset-Map Report download to paper. Asset-Map cannot support third-party software.

Q. The accounts on other members, like the Trust or dependents aren't printing out. What do I do?

One effective solution is to create a Layout. With Layouts you can create an additional Asset-Map within the same household for that particular entity or person and then include that new map in the PDF. Rearranging and saving the household members in the middle of the Asset-Map is called a Layout. Click here for more information on Layouts and how to include the Layout on the comprehensive report.

Q. I get an error message when I attempt to print my client's PDF report. Why?

Error Message

Solution

REQUEST DENIED while creating a PDF from the reports tab. Unable to generate PDF - 'content'

  • This is typically due to an advisor copying and pasting formatted text from a word processor into the NOTES tab of a financial. Hidden formatting content from a word processor or PDF document cannot be interpreted by our PDF generator and causes the error. Enter plain text only into the Notes fields. Use the formatting tools provided in the platform.

  • When no primary member is present to print a default asset-map for. Save a Layout with a Primary member.

  • When there are too many Layouts to print. (over 5). Create a report with fewer Layouts.

  • When notes exceed a certain character limit (unknown limit). There will be a lot of notes and spaces between notes. Shorten the notes.

REQUEST DENIED - There was an error querying the server

  1. Clear browser cache for all time and close the browse then try again.

  2. Lower the amount of Layouts you are trying to print to under 5 and try again.

REQUEST DENIED - non-ASCII characters

Use common quotes and apostrophes from a U.S. - type keyboard on your computer. Switch from international to U.S. keyboard.

REQUEST DENIED - Locked member

This message means that the Lead advisor is no longer active in the system. The solution is to get the household transferred to a new Lead advisor. Reach out to support@asset-map.com for assistance.

PDF won't open. Adobe errors out.

Ensure you have the most up-to-date PDF software installed, including Apple Preview if you are using an Apple device. Download the PDF to your desktop and try opening it from there.

Notes PDF - Notes text are left aligned only, making a long column of words on the left side in a note.

Open the Notes page of the Household on the left navigation menu. Find the Financials that have no notes. If there are no notes on a financial, then it shouldn't be on the notes page.

Click the financial without notes listed to bring up its edit window.

Click UPDATE to save the empty notes field and the item will disappear from the Notes page. The document will be able to be created without issue.

PDF will not generate

If the household has many financials, members or entities, evaluate which items need to be on the map. The solution is to generate Layouts or move the members off the map and hold them in the Relationships/Other Members & Entities area. To do this, uncheck the Include in My Household checkbox on the members' edit window.
