Overview
A Household is a collection of members and financials. Together they combine to make an Asset-Map Report and other relevant reports.
The status of a household determines is features and function in Asset-Map. The status can be adjusted later from within the specific household on the Household Details page. Click to learn more about the Household Details page.
Types of Status
Choose the right one for the right purpose on the Add a New Household page.
"Client": a household where there is a current business relationship.
"Prospect": a household where there is a potential business relationship.
"Sample": used to create a custom household that illustrates or imitates a family, business, life cycle stage or other situation. The Asset-Map created can be used for demonstration purposes, presentations, or within the prospecting sales cycle as a hand-out. Sample households in Asset-Map are pre-populated household scenarios designed to help users explore the platform's capabilities and demonstrate features. Search for the term "sample" in the household search field to view a sample household containing pre-filled data to illustrate Asset-Map functionality.
"Stencil": Considered an "overlay" of financial tiles, a stencil household can be crafted to imitate a demographic, a financial situation, a benefits package or any other collection of financial tiles. Stencils act as placeholders for data entries that serve as visual aids during household planning or customization but do not include actual data until manually filled or updated by the user. Use the "stencil" household to 1) make Asset-Maps quickly; 2) show what peers have when overlayed onto client's Asset-Maps; 3) quickly apply a collection of tiles that demonstrate a financial situation (example: "Mid-Career Professional Stencil"). Once completed, you may apply your stencil using the Apply Stencil dialog box when creating an Asset-Map. Learn about Stencils

Sample Households and Stencil Functionality
Why Stencil Tiles Don't Appear in Reports
When working with a sample household, users might notice that stencil tiles do not populate in reports. This behavior occurs because stencils are placeholders without real data entries. As such, they are not included when generating reports or summaries from samples. This ensures that reports remain accurate and reflect only complete and actionable data.
Practical Applications and Considerations
Demonstration Use: Leverage sample households like the "Flourish Family (Sample)" to familiarize yourself with Asset-Map's layout and abilities. These are especially useful for training and presentations.
Stencil Customization: Remember that stencil tiles need real data to function effectively within reports. Always customize and populate them with relevant information when working on actual client households to ensure meaningful output.
