Overview

For a client to view their map, the client needs to establish a log-in to the Asset-Map platform and then accept the household you are sharing with them. The advisor's steps are:

  1. Create the client's link.

  2. Send their client an invitation email with their log-in setup link. The advisor creates an invitation email (we have suggested client correspondence here) and places the generated link into it prior to sending it to their client.

Details are below.

One can create a client portal invitation link from a couple of convenient spots within the Asset-Map platform:

  • From the Household Asset-Map page. Click an avatar in the middle of the page and click the Client Portal Share icon.

  • From the household's information page click the Client Portal tab.

Please note, Client Portal availability and certain permissions may be dependent upon the policies of your organization.

Create a Client Portal link from the Asset-Map page

Here's how to create a client portal link from their Asset-Map that you can email to your client:

Method 1: With the Sidebar Hidden

With the sidebar option hidden, the member's edit window appears in the middle of the Asset-Map.

  1. Click the Client Portal icon.

  2. Select a permission type from the Permission Set menu

  3. Decide whether a specific email is required. If so, enter the email address.

  4. Click the "Create Invite" button to generate a link.

  5. Click the copy icon adjacent to the new log-in link that was generated.

  6. Paste the invitation link in your email to the client.

Method 2: With the Sidebar Unhidden

While in Sidebar view, click the member and scroll to the bottom of the Edit Member window to the Client Portal page. Select the desired permission set, decide if a specific email is required for the client to log in with, click the "Create Invite" button. Click the copy icon adjacent to the new log-in link that was generated.

Create a Client Portal link from the Household Information page

The same link creation interface exists if you navigate to the "Household Information" page and "Client Portal" tab:

Step 1. Navigate to the Household Summary page. Either click the blue household name link in the upper left area, or the Household tab in the left-side menu. Then click Edit.

Step 2. Open the share interface. Click the Client Portal tab, then click the "Share Household" arrow.

Advisor's Preview of the Client's View

Prior to sending a link or changing what features the client can access, planners have the ability to "see what the client sees." Access preview mode by clicking the "enter client preview" icon (arrow within a box).

Exit the Advisor's Preview Mode

Once completed with reviewing the client's view, exit the preview mode by clicking the advisor likeness in the upper right area and selecting "Exit Preview."

Change Client Portal Permissions

Scenario: You've shared the client link with an Asset-Map Only view permission and now you'd like them to be able to suggest edits by providing Suggesting permission.

  1. Access the Client Portal page in the Household Information section (click the house icon in the left navigation menu, or click the client's household name in the upper left area).

  2. Click the "Edit Client Portal Permissions" icon (pencil)

  3. In the "Edit Client Portal Permissions" interface select "Asset-Map Report: Suggesting" or whatever other permission set you'd like your clients to have.

  4. Click the "Update" button.

Inform your client that you've changed their permission set to provide them with different functionality.

Send Their Link Using your Email

Get them off to a good start with a good introduction email. An introduction client email might include the following (the text below is provided as a starting point to generate ideas.) Please follow your organization's compliance rules for client engagement:

Dear [Client Name]

I have your one-page financial map available. Activate your secure log-in to view it by following the link below and completing your secure access credentials. Please note: You have seven days before this link automatically times out. Set up your new account soon!

[client's invitation link]

If you need support at any time, please reach out to me. If you spot something on your map that needs to be corrected, please let me know!

Sincerely,

[Financial Professional Name]
