Please watch this short video to learn how to create a customized Sample Asset-Map to use with clients and prospects in your book of business.
Overview
In this video, we demonstrate how to create your own sample clients if suitable pre-built options are unavailable in the Household Index. We focus on building a sample for retired individuals, including adding details and using a stencil for retirees. We highlight the importance of clear naming, like including "sample client" in the title for easy identification, and show how to enter specific information, such as pension details. We encourage you to try this process for your community needs.
How to use a Sample
Once you've created your sample you can do a number of things:
Print a copy and share it with a prospect. Position how you provide a visual inventory as part of your financial process. More information about positioning here.
Download and attach a sample to a Discovery invitation. More about attaching a sample to a correspondence here. Compliance considerations are the responsibility of the financial planner.
Test Asset-Map features. If a sample case is built out you can explore Signals, Target-Maps™ and other reports available to you.

0:00 Hey there, wanted to show very quickly how you can create your own samples if you don't see a sample that you like pre-built within the Household Index or one that doesn't fit your community. 0:11 Let's say, for example, you want to build a sample around retired individuals. I'm going to click Thank Add Household in the center of the screen, and we're first going to click Get Started Under Manual. 0:22 You'll see this drop-down under Details. You want to click the drop-down and choose the option for Sample. We're going to go ahead and- and title our sample, retire, retiree. 0:35 And I'm going to do the first name as member. Last name is one. You can really pick whatever you would like in this situation. 0:40 In terms of your sample clients, you can name them something creative. I'm going to- go ahead and click, uh, an additional member. 0:47 I'll keep it simple and just do one member for our call today. I'm going to click Add Household, and I just created my retiree sample. 0:55 If I want to re-edit the name, maybe I want to make sure that I know that this is a sample client. 1:00 I can type in sample client within this section as well. That way, it shows up within the name when we search our household index. 1:08 You'll see that this is a sample. Now, a really easy way to build out sample clients is we can first start with one of our stencils. 1:16 We don't have- I have a retiree sample pre-built in the system, but what we do have is a stencil associated with retirees. 1:24 So, I'm gonna click on this drop-down. And you'll see I've got one for retired individuals. And you can search this drop-down within this section. 1:33 Uh, and that retired stencil should pop up. So you'll see this retired stencil. I'll choose that one. It's a household stencil. 1:41 So if we're applying it to one individual, we'll need to adjust some of the tiles. When we go to enter in the information. 1:46 But you can see, now this is my sample. I can click into each of these tiles and start entering in the information. 1:53 So maybe they have a pension. That's from PA. And they're getting $30,000 a year. If I click update, that is now present with it. 2:01 And then my sample. I can do the same thing for these other tiles. I can edit the title in terms of the reference name, as well as the source, source and purpose in terms of whatever I want to be present within my sample client that I'm creating. 2:15 So if you use a stencil as a. The starting point, it's a really easy way to create your own samples within the system.
