Combining Households in Asset-Map
Sometimes imports from integrations doesn't go as planned. For example, instead of one household made of two clients within the integration, it creates two households in Asset-Map. If you'd like to combine them, here are a couple of ways to do it.
Method 1: Using the Merge Households Feature
If you have two households in Asset-Map that you would like to combine, you can use the Merge Households feature to merge them into one. Here's how:
Change one household to a stencil.
Apply the stencil to the other household.
Delete the stencil if you don't need that household anymore.

Once the merge is complete, you will see that the two households have been combined into one. Any data from the second household will be added to the first one, and the second household may be deleted.
Method 2: Manually Combining Households
If you prefer to manually combine households, you can do so by following these steps:
Decide which household and map to keep.
Manually add the missing member.
Manually create the desired tiles on this map that are found on the other one. Often this is just 4 or 5 tiles instead of needing to recreate an entire map.
Lastly, delete the unneeded household if desired.
By following these steps, you will have successfully combined the two households into one.
Method 3: Unlink one household from the integration
One advantage of integrating is easy synchronizing of assets. How do we retain the asset and member link?
In this case, unlink the second household from the integration and delete the household. Then perform a member-level link to the first household. Most integrations allow for you to reach out to the integration to connect one contact to an Asset-Map member. Here's how for most integrations.
Delete the second household since it won't be needed. This assumes you have not already performed many edits to it. In that case, use Methods 1 or 2 above.
In the first household, go to the Details page.
From the Household Details page, click the integration's tab. Here's an example.
Search for the client name.
Choose to import that client and create either a new member or link to a member already on the map. If the person is not yet on the map, choose new member.
Click import. The link will be made and their assets will be visible on the map.
Conclusion
Sometimes, imports from integrations may not go as planned and can result in multiple households being created in Asset-Map. However, with the Merge Households feature or by manually combining households or by performing a member-level link, you can easily merge them into one.
