Overview of Relationship Field
Relationship fields in Asset-Map classify the connections between household members (e.g., Child, Family, Primary). These fields can either be manually updated or controlled by an integration. The steps to manage these fields depend on whether the field is editable or locked.
Manual Updates for Editable Fields
If the relationship field is not locked by an integration, you can manually update it directly in Asset-Map. Follow these steps:
Open the Asset-Map and locate the person whose relationship you want to update.
Click the person’s avatar to open the member edit window.
Change the Relationship classification (e.g., Child, Family, Primary) as needed.
Click Update to save the changes.
Handling Integration-Locked Fields
When a relationship field is locked by an integration manual updates in Asset-Map are not possible. Instead, you must update the relationship classification in the integrated system. Here’s how:
Log in to your integration account.
Navigate to the contact whose relationship classification you want to update.
Make the necessary changes to the relationship classification.
Sync the updated household into Asset-Map to reflect the changes.
This ensures that the relationship data remains consistent across both systems.

Q. How do I choose a child?
A. A child can be a dependent or not or an adult or not. Use the Dependent checkbox. Note: Dependents are chosen as part of Education Target-Maps.
Q. I can't find a specific family member type.
A. Not all family members are listed. The drop menu consists of the following:
Primary - left member on a map. Required for a map.
Spouse - right member on a map
Partner
Child
Grandchild
Parent
Grandparent
Sibling
Family
Friend
Business/Professional
Pet
Other
Q. I don't want their lawyer on the map but I want to keep track of who that is and how to contact them?
A. Members can be excluded from the map but maintained in the household, or included on the map using the Include in My Household checkbox.
