Overview: Why Clone a Financial Instrument?

The Clone Financial Instrument feature is designed to save you time and reduce data entry errors when building an Asset-Map. Instead of manually recreating similar financial instruments from scratch, cloning allows you to duplicate an existing tile—complete with its specific details, institutions, and values—in a single click!

Key Benefits:

  • Rapid Entry for Similar Assets: If a client has multiple CDs at the same bank or several similar insurance policies, cloning ensures the institutional data remains consistent while you only update the policy numbers or face amounts.

  • Maintain Data Integrity: Reduce the risk of typos by leveraging information you have already verified in a previous entry.

Procedure

  1. Select the financial tile you wish to duplicate.

  2. Click the "Clone" (double paper) icon located in the bottom left of the edit window.

  3. Rename the new tile immediately to avoid confusion (Asset-Map usually appends "- Copy" to the name).

  4. Assign the clone to a different member if necessary by clicking the member icon within the new tile.

  5. Edit other information on the duplicate financial as desired. This includes anything on the Essentials, Details and Notes sections.

The clone button appears on previously saved financials, not unsaved ones such as stencil financials.
