Overview
The Outbound Discovery Link is designed to streamline your onboarding workflow by shifting the data-gathering phase to the client. By sending a personalized link directly to a prospect or client, you empower them to input their own financial details, which Asset-Map then uses to automatically build their Household and Map.
Why use Outbound Discovery?
Save Time: Eliminate the need for manual data entry or transcribing notes from paper organizers.
Control the Workflow: Send a specific, time-sensitive link to ensure your onboarding process stays on track.
Flexible Setup: While you can pre-populate a few known details to get the client started, the primary goal is a hands-off data collection process that populates the Map for you.
Use this tool to simplify your discovery process and arrive at your next meeting with the foundational work already completed by the client.
Generate an Outbound Link
Navigate to the Discovery administration page.
Enter a client or prospect name in the "Recipient's Name" field. Name length cannot be above 32 characters.
Click the "Initiate Interview" button.
Select the engagement option.
Engagement Options
Decide how you prefer to engage with your recipient: "Email", "Copy Link", "Launch Now."
Option 1: The "Email" button
The email button provides a convenient means to open your system's default email program and copy our default text with the client's Discovery link pre-populated. You can paste the text into your email to their client.
Notes about our default text
Our default text is a general suggestion only and the financial professional is advised to use language that is in line with their compliance department.
Our system text cannot be changed. Customization must be done by the advisor in their email to the client.
Use the copy buttons available on the interface to copy and paste the subject line and body text into your email platform.
Option 2: The "Copy Link" button
Click the copy link option to copy just the outbound link. Paste the link into the email you are composing.
A suggested email template

I am using a tool that provides a visual representation of your financial decisions. It will become our ongoing meeting agenda with which we can discuss your situation and options.
This shouldn't take you more than 10–15 minutes. Please use round numbers and rough estimates. I just want to get a foundation for your household's current situation. During our meeting, we'll build on this foundation together and have a comprehensive visualization on one page. You can use the navigation buttons at the bottom of each page to add, remove, or correct your entries, but please remember that there is a 14-day security timeout after which the interview is closed. Option 3: The "Launch Now" button
You can launch the interview right away while you are with the client or if you wish to begin entering information about the client yourself to give them a headstart.

⭐Top Tips and Q&A
Tip: Attach a sample Asset-Map and/or marketing materials in your invitation. This can help the prospect understand the value of completing the Discovery process. You can find no-cost marketing materials to include in your invitation email here. Select an appropriate sample by searching for the word "sample" in the Household Search field. Then download and attach the sample PDF to your email.
Tip: Track the status of the interview in the tracking table. Set yourself a reminder to reach out to them if they have not completed their map in a few days.
Q. My client can't open their link to add more information.
A. A client that completes their Discovery interview will not be able to reopen it to add more information. Please check out: ✅ Next steps.
A client cannot open a timed out link. In our system it is considered "closed." Check the Discovery administration table to view its status.
Q. How do I resend the outbound link?
A. From the Discovery administration page, click the curved arrow icon to copy the currently active link. You must send the active link to the client. If the link is closed or complete, this feature will not work.
Q. The prospect already completed their Discover interview. Can they add more information?
A. They can provide you with more information but not through Discovery. Generate their household with what they've already provided and offer them access to their map by providing them a link to set up their client portal access.
