Overview
The Asset-Map report provides a visual representation of members and entities along with their associated financials. However, some financial details for certain members may not be visible in the current view. We suggest creating different Layouts to access alternate views of the household, enabling you to see the financials of specific members or entities on their own Asset-Map. This is particularly useful when you want to focus on the financials of a business entity without including other members, when isolating a business partner, reviewing a trust's finances, or examining education accounts for dependents, among other conversations.
This includes managing individual financials and trust assets on a single page by toggling visibility settings and representing jointly owned assets effectively.
Create a Layout
Use the name tags on the name tag bar found above the Asset-Map report to configure the layout. Clicking a name tag will include or hide them from the Asset-Map. For example, you can toggle visibility to remove a trust entity or a family member from the primary/spouse map. Remember that you can include more than two members.
Once you have the desired members visible in the middle of the map, open the "Actions menu" (or Right-Click/Alt-Click on the map) and select "Layouts".
Select "Save Current Layout", name your layout and click "Create Layout".
Managing Individual and Trust Assets
To display assets, debts, and cash flows for individuals (e.g., "his" and "her" sides) and trusts on a single page:
Toggle Visibility Settings: Use the member name tags to manage which entities appear on the map. For example, you can remove trust assets from the primary/spouse map by toggling their visibility. You can add all financials from all members and entities by clicking the All button on the name tag bar.
Save Layouts: Once you have adjusted the visibility settings, save the layout as a separate view. This allows you to include the trust's assets as a distinct page in your client facing report. These steps ensure that individual and trust assets are clearly represented without overlap or confusion with personal financials.
Edit Ownership Settings: Open the asset or liability details and enable the "Joint ownership" option.
Unified Display: This setting places the jointly owned item in the center joint section of the map, showing it as a single tile for the displayed members rather than splitting it between individual owners. This approach helps jointly owned assets are visually easy to interpret.
Use Layouts in Presentations
Since Asset-Map is a visually engaging tool for remote meetings or live presentations, use your saved layouts to focus the conversation on the members that matter. Right-click/Alt-Click a blank area on the map, select the Layout menu option and click "Select an exiting Layout." Then select the desired layout from the pick list.
Deleting Layouts
Previously created Layouts can be deleted from the Layouts interface. Use the "Select an existing Layout" pick list to choose which layout to delete. Click the Trash Can icon next to the desired layout.
Generate PDFs
Layouts can be included as part of a comprehensive report from the "Reports center" page. The Reports center is divided into sections. Look at the Asset-Map section and check the additional Layouts to include before clicking the "Generate Report" button.
Tip: When creating a new layout place your layout in a preferred order by including a number at the beginning of the name. For example:
Default
1 Children
2 Trusts
3 Employees
A maximum of 5 Layouts may be selected to produce a report.
