A Stencil is a collection of financial tiles (assets, liabilities, insurances, cash flows) that losely define a peer group, a family situation, or a financial situation. Applying a stencil to a household cuts the time it takes for making maps. Applying a Stencil gives you permission to ask your client questions and allows you to show your clients what their peer group could potentially have. A Stencil is a kind of Household. For more information on how to create and maintain your own custom Stencils, click here.

Consider the entire library of stencils as divided into two collections:

  • those that you create, maintain and share that are in your Household Index ("My Stencils")

  • and system Stencils maintained by Asset-Map Platform ("Public Library").

Stencil Applicator Interface

The Stencil applicator consists of two tabs:

  • My Stencils tab displays the stencils currently in your Household Index. Those are the stencils that you can apply, view, edit, delete or share with other work partners that are part of your account.

  • Public Library tab displays our system stencils that are maintained by Asset-Map. They can only be applied and not manipulated by a subscriber. Should you desire to edit a Public Library stencil, copy it to your My Stencils library using the add icon ("+") to the right of the Public Library stencil. Clicking "+" adds that system stencil to your My Stencils library and therefore your Household Index. You can then access the stencil for editing purposes from there.

  • The image icon to the left of each Stencil name is clickable and provides a preview of what the stencil looks like.

  • The "+" icon to the right of the Stencil name optionally adds the stencil to your My Stencils collection. When "+" is clicked, the stencil will appear on your My Stencils tab with the word (copy) appended to the name of the stencil. It will be listed along with the other stencils presently in your Household Index. Within the Stencil application tool, click the title of the stencil to apply it to the current household. To edit the stencil, click the name of the household from within your Household Index.
