Though not intrinsic to the Asset-Map Platform, health insurance and health care coverage (as well as dental, eye care, and supplemental types of insurances) can be a relevant topic for a Financial Professional to discuss with their client.

Though not a type of financial in and of itself, the flexibility of Asset-Map allows you to add a financial tile and call it "Health Insurance", "HSA (Health Savings Account)", "Critical Illness", "Dental Coverage", "Health Coverage" etc. in the free-text fields of the financials' edit window. Asset-Map includes 4 types of financial categories out of the box:

  • Cash Flows (including expenses)

  • Assets

  • Insurance (Long Term Care, Life, Disability, Property and Casualty)

  • Liabilities

Depending on what makes sense for your client conversation, select the type of financial and name it appropriately. Remember that dollar values are annual.

For example, if you prefer to discuss the premium they are currently paying, you may wish to include an expense cash flow financial:

If you wish to consider health care as an asset, consider using an asset financial:

Here's an alternate description:

Another example could be Medicare. In the Reference name enter "Medicare". In the Coverage amount enter $1. In the Notes tab enter Plan A, Plan B and Plan D coverages. Notes are optionally printable from the Notes page or Reports page.

If you prefer to use an insurance financial to position the tile overhead, representing "coverage", select from one of the insurance types. Here's an example:

In all circumstances, be aware that the Target-Map module may apply the financial to fund a need not associated with health insurance. Uncheck the financial in a Target-Map to remove it from the funding source.
